Earth Day, celebrated on 22nd April each year, is the annual event dedicated to awareness about the various environmental challenges that face our planet.
UN Global Road Safety Week
May 13th – 17th 2022
The Global Road Safety Week will take place from the 13th to the 17th of May 2022 – to create local support for such low-speed measures so that people live in a safe, healthy, green city. – to officially introduce the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 and its global plan for the world.
National Bike Week
May 14 – 22nd 2022
Bike Week is a celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling. This year, Bike Week will kick off on Saturday May 14th and end on Sunday May 22nd. A variety of events both on the ground and online will be held throughout Ireland.
National Bike to Work Day
May 20th 2022
National Bike to Work Day takes place on the third Friday in May, right in the middle of National Bike Month. The observance encourages us to bike to work, but it also raises awareness of cyclists as they commute to and from work each day.
World Bicycle Day

World Bicycle Day celebrates this great power and highlights the importance of non-motorised transport in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and combating climate change.
World Environment Day

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) annually organises events for World Environment Day, which encourages worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
World Fresh Air Day
September 7th 2022
Fresh Air Day brings together communities, businesses, schools and the health sector to improve public understanding of air pollution and explain what we can all do to tackle air pollution.
World Suicide Prevention Day
10th September 2022
Events and activities on World Suicide Prevention Day include conferences, seminars, and discussion forums; formulating new policies for suicide prevention.
Preservation of the Ozone Layer
September 16th 2022
Every year the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is celebrated on 16 September. The ozone layer is a very important part of Earth’s atmosphere that is responsible for keeping out potentially harmful ultraviolet radiation. The use of ozone-damaging substances called chlorofluorocarbons (or CFCs) in a wide range of products such as refrigerators, aerosol cans etc, triggered ozone depletion in the atmosphere.
European Mobility Week
16-22nd September 2022
EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is the European Commission’s flagship awareness-raising campaign on sustainable urban mobility. It encourages behavioural change in favour of active mobility, public transport and other clean, intelligent transport solutions. The annual theme for 2022 is ‘Better connections’.
World Car Free Day

This event encourages everyone to give up their cars for a day and consider alternative ways of travelling, for example walking and cycling to school/work more often.
World Heart Day

World Heart Day is an opportunity for everyone to stop and consider how best to use your heart for humanity, for nature, and for you.
World Habitat Day
October 3rd 2022
Habitats include cities, towns, villages – any region/place where human life thrives. The first Monday of October is earmarked by the UN to promote awareness on the conservation and protection of habitats and to emphasise on everyone’s right to shelter.
World Mental Health Day

The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
World Urbanism Day
November 8th 2022
World Urbanism Day was started to give recognition to and promote the role of planning in creating liveable communities. World Urbanism Day presents an excellent opportunity to look at planning from a global perspective, an event which appeals to the conscience of citizens and public authorities in order to draw attention to the environmental impact resulting from the development of cities and territories.
